Google Adwords review - Country / Territory specific ads
Author: Fione Tan
Sometimes you might choose your Google Adwords campaign to target only customers / visitors from selected countries / territories but how do you view the results / ads that those visitors will be seeing?
For instance, you could be based in Singapore and then you have launched a campaign for US only. When you view the results on Google from your home, you will only see worldwide ads and Singapore based ads so you will not be able to view your USA ads.
Here are 2 ways that you can view those ads. You can use either one of the free methods.
1. Go to the specific countries’ Google website
- for instance, you can go to www.Google.co.jp and see japan based google adwords
2. Search as usual on Google.com
- on the page of results, go the the Address section / column in your Internet Explorer and add the word &gl=us
- for instance, i searched for email marketing software on Google.com and the results in the Internet Explorer shows
Then, what i do is to add the extra “&gl=us” to the end of the URL and search again as
Now, i can view the google adwords that Internet Surfers in USA will be viewing.
You can replace the =us word with the country that you are searching eg
- Malaysia google adwords &gl=my
- Singapore google adwords &gl=sg
- Hong Kong google adwords &gl=hk
- Taiwan google adwords &gl=tw

Can anyone give me ideas…
I have been using adwords to promote my online business websites. I almost never see any results. I think the most amount of traffic i have recieved from adwords is 5 unique visitors in a whole month. Is there anyother good ppc options besides google where i will get better exposure of my website.

Hi Orlando,
First, you should check your current range of keywords that you are bidding on.
- develop more ad variations, as then Google can rotate for you the better performing ads. That means that in 1 ad campaign in google, you actually have a few different versions of ads that can be displayed
In the meantime, there should also be reports in the Google Adwords section after you login that shows how many impressions you are getting and how many clicks.
When you go to Google.com and search for those keywords you are bidding on, do you see your Ad? If not, then it could mean that you have set too low a maximum per click price on this keyword thus not getting the coverage.
There are some other PPC options such as BidVertiser.com, Kanoodle.com and Miva.com, that you can try out.
