From our experience of conducting Internet marketing seminars in Asia, 95% of participants haven’t got a clue what Alexa rankings is. For 87% of those who know, they only know half the truth.

Alexa rankings represent the traffic of websites, the lower, the better. The No.1 rank as at today is Yahoo, No.2 is MSN, and No.3 is Google.

However, this is not conclusive, as the traffic analysis is based on those people who have downloaded the Alexa bar and the sites they visit. They can’t tell the traffic resulted from the rest of the population who didn’t download the Alexa bar. As most Internet users in Asia do not know about this tool, the Alexa rankings for Asia sites can be a reference only but not conclusive.
