Hi Phil,

You can check out the Funan IT Mall, located near the Raffles City Shopping Centre and the nearest MRT station is the City Hall station. You can easily walk over in just 10 minutes.

There are many small IT shops there, and the one i normally use is the biggest retailer there called Challenger. Ranging from Digital cameras up to LCD projectors, they are well equipped.

Here are some tips:-
- check with retailer whether you can get GST refund on the purchases you made (this is the tax imposed by the Singapore government which was at 5% earlier but raised to 7% recently i think)
- the brand that you purchase, check for the warranty as in whether it is just for local warranty or for international warranty?
- if you need to upgrade the specs, like RAM, etc, you can directly inform them and they can do this for you too

Since i have had a "bad" experience when i dealt with another Singapore electronics big retailer in the past, i am now more wary and insist on being there when they open up the box & install the softwares etc

SO far with my experience with Challenger store, i've been pleased and i would be unlikely to purchase from another retailer.

Happy Shopping!

Hi.

I am due to be in Singapour in early October and would like some advice from savvy locals, please.

1 - Are the prices there on laptops much better than Europe?
2 - Where should I go to buy and where not! I only have a few days available for this purpose, remember.

Thanks!
