Displaying affiliate links vs cloaking links

When a person joins an affiliate program, their banners and text links will normally display their ids as part of the website url. For instance, www.eonenet.com/id=123 if my affiliate id was 123.

Many affiliate programs now offer their affiliates to cloak their links, meaning not display your actual affliate id within the link. Would this be better? Well, there are some customers who might not enjoy the idea that you are making money from products and services that you have referred to them, so therefore, they will just copy the website url and remove your id along the way.

This means that your affiliate marketing effort would have been wasted. One of the trends that affiliates are picking up are to cloak their affiliate link. This mean that the customers only see the website url without displaying your affiliate link to them.

If you current affiliate program do not offer the affliate link cloaking, you can also do this using eOneNet’s free webmaster tool of Affiliate Link Cloaker here.

You will still be able to earn your affiliate commissions and customers that you refer are then more willing to click on those links that you are promoting.
