6.6 billion searches were performed by Americans in September 2006 alone. Can you guess which is the most popular search engine used?

Yes, it’s Google, the search engine king. Among the international search engines, Google’s market share was at 45.1%, followed by Yahoo with 28.1%, MSN with 11.9%. Apart from the top 3 search engines market share, next on the list was Ask.com.

In this report by comScore, about 13% of the U.S. searches were done using the toolbar search, such as Google Toolbar and Yahoo Toolbar. This is estimated at about 879 million searches in September 2006.
