Malaysia Internet Marketing - How Malaysia is catching up to the Blogging Trends?

After listening to Fione’s presentation of our new seminar, How we can Free Blogs to earn income online, both of us, Lina and Mag decided to do more research on how Malaysians are catching up to this trend.

A report on 30th November in Malaysia’s The Star newspaper, said that “Most bloggers are women”.

Here are the snippets of some interesting facts:

- “If you are a Malaysian and you have your own blog, the odds are that you’re a woman, aged 25 or under.”

- 64% of local bloggers are female and out of this, 74% of them are in the age group of 25 years old and below.

In a global survey of 25,000 Microsoft MSN web visitors in August and September, it was found that 41% of Malaysian have also started to blog.

It’s quite interesting that so many Malaysians are also blogging on the Internet. Those who think blogging is not that popular among Malaysians should think twice. Blogging is now an emerging trend in Malaysia and it is growing really fast.

Is this is just temporary trend? You should take note that blogging in getting big, and not just limited to websites like Blogger or Wordpress. Social networks like Friendster and Myspace nowadays also have blogs built into their accounts.

LifeLogger is another example of a fine social network that works around the concept of blogging.

Then of course, you might start to ask, who wants to read about my blog? The majority of readers, about 81% of them are interested in blogs written by friends or family.

This shows that blogs can be used as a way to get in-touch with close friends and family. For example, usually a Friendster blog is only viewable by your friends. These bloggers usually only write for their friends and family, therefore are able to share many personal stories in their blog. To them blogs is the way to update their friends about themselves, fast and effectively.

Even giant companies like Microsoft, Google, Yahoo and Sun have their blogs. This is more towards business blogs, and not just our normal personal blogs. In future, we’re sure many government agencies and politicians would also have their own blog. Then we live up to the words of “Malaysia Boleh!” (this is one of the most commonly used tagline in Malaysia, and if translated, means Malaysia can)

We have just started our first posting in eOneNet’s internet marketer blog and we look forward to contributing more internet marketing posts.
