How Shopping Online is Cheaper?
Online shopping experience sharing by Koay & Ling.
Want to go out shopping but afraid of traffic jam on the road? You can always go for second option, which is to sit at home and wait for delivery. Very convenient and easy, online shopping is commonly used throughout the world nowadays. Consumers can buy the products or services they like from any parts of the world. It is very convenient, time-saving, user- friendly and online transaction is now much secure than before. In addition, I noticed that the prices for online purchasing can also be cheaper than physical shopping. Thus, I would like to share some of my online shopping experiences.
One of my experience that i would love to share is online purchasing of air ticket from AirAsia.com. Previously, when I was still studying at University Malaysia Sabah, the only transportation that i have to travel between study place and hometown in Kedah is by flight, well, unless i’m a very good swimmer to swim across the ocean or Superman really exist to save me. At first, being very new to the environment and without experience, i will go to the counter at airport in order to purchase the air ticket.
One glory morning, i saw an advertisement in newspaper showing that AirAsia launched a new promotion. An air ticket from KL to Kedah was only RM9.99!! I was so excited and rushed to the airport in Labuan to get purchase the promotion ticket. But, it wasn’t my lucky day, I was disappointed when the AirAsia staff told me the promotion is only valid for online purchasing and if I buy from counter in airport, the price will be RM59.99.
Further more, I still remember on one weekend for 3 or 4 months ago, i went to Mid Valley Shopping Mall with my friends for shopping. Yes, shopping time! Then i went to a mobile phone shop to take a look the latest handsets. I was very much attracted to a few models but this particular phone in white color captured my eyes. At the first look, i knew that this phone is the ”one” that i really wanted and i have to have it. It’s like the phone is made for me. Having a glance at its price, RM1,099, i left the shop and went to the other shop to compare the prices for the mobile phone that i wanted. However, to my disappointment, the price didn’t show any big differences ranging from RM1050, RM1100 to RM 999.
My friends suggested me to go to Digital Mall at Seksyen 14 in Petaling Jaya to take a look. But still, the price in Digital Mall didn’t give me any good options compared with the ones i saw in Midvalley. Finally i decided to search online and i found that if i do online purchasing, i only need to pay around RM 800. Can u believe that? Check out the price differences. This is really a great news for me… Although i do not have a credit card, i still can do online purchasing by using maybank2u, pay pal and so on. So, now the Sony Ericsson W300i in white colour officially belongs to me now.
All in all, by doing online shopping, we can get a lot of benefits such as convenience, time saving, user-friendly, more variety of choices and so on. And the important thing is the price for online purchasing is cheaper than traditional shopping. Thus, we should do more online shopping!!!

I remember by first purchase online was on eBay. It was a white pearl lady’s bag as a gift. I bid and won the bag at only USD9 but the shipping was double the price at USD18! hahaha…
Anyway, it was a pleasant first experience and I’ve since bought several other things online.
