How to install a web site tracker, counter for Free?
Have you ever wondered how popular your website is ? Well, you can keep count of the number of visitor to your website easily by using web tracker. What is WEB TRACKER ? The idea of web tracker is very simple. You place a small piece of code on your website, and that small piece of code will execute every time someone visits your website. The visitor’s public details such as ip address, browser, operating system, url and etc are analyzed and stored for reporting to you later.
If you are using your own web hosting services, you can normally login to your hosting control panel to view the webstie statistics. However, if your hosting company do not provide this information, then you can just install your own website counter / tracker for free.
There are three important terms, namely, page loads, unique visitors and returning visitors. When someone visits your website, it is considered as one page load, as simple as that. Anyone that visits your website for the first time is counted as unique visitor. A tiny cookie from the unique visitor’s site will be stored, so even you stay active on the page, the visitor won’t be counted as a unique visitor. Unless the session time has expired, depending on your own setting, from 30 minutes to one week time. Similarly, the returning visitors are also counted based on the expiry of session time, based on your own settings.
The important tracking information you can monitor using web tracker either hourly, daily or monthly include :
- Amount of visitors to your website.
- What a specific visitor from a website did on your website, number of pages viewed, and also number of returning visitors to your website.
- Where your visitor came from.
- What search engine they used to find your website.
- What key words they used to find your website
Differrent from web tracker, a web counter or hit counter is optional as it is used to keep count of number of visitors to your website. It is also optional to display the count, or to leave it invisible. But obviously plan how you would be displaying the numbers, as if the visitor count is too low, new visitors may leave the site very fast. Therefore you can set the start of the number of this web counter from a non-zero number like 1000 or 1888. Any number you desire as long as it’s logical and you do not want to exaggerate the numbers, else the visitors won’t believe you.
Website tracker or web counters are very simple to install. You just need to register an account with any web site tracking sites like:-
a) Web Tracker or
b) Web Visitor or
c) Hit Counter, then create a project or a website, copy the code to your specific website and start tracking.
Use the codes that the website tracking company provides you and paste those codes into your website page source codes.
You can log on to the web tracker site anytime, day or night to monitor and view latest reports online. Most web tracker available are FREE versions. The paid version are depending on the page loads ranging from $2 - $30. It’s not very expensive and you can get lots of useful information, but only upgrade to a paid version when you have completed the website and have time to go through those web site statistics.

Hyperlink between your blog contents / pages to your websites too.
Mention about your blog on your own website so that visitors can also browse and interact with you.
Later on, install your own hosted blog (in your own web hosting) and ensure you use a theme similar to your website, in order to create the branding here too.

Web tracker and web counter are really simply to install as you can just register and get the code generated to paste it on your website. It helps you to keep record of your visitor ip adressess so that you can see that which of the visitor are more interested in the products or service you provided in the website so that you can get back to them. It also provide you a counter to let you know whether that is anyone visiting your website so that if there is a fall in your visitor, you can do an amend to your site.

this is really an useful thing to appear on your website. this can be used to show how popular your website is. you can choose to display it to everyone or just keep it to yourself.
