China Internet Stats - Internet Population Grew 23.4% to 137 Million
Posted by Harrace (Singapore)
China’s Internet users grew 23.4% to 137 million, according to the latest report of the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC).
Wow, it is almost certain that China’s Internet users will surpass U.S.’s 157 million within the next 2 years, if China continues to grow at the rate of about 20% per year.
What are the opportunities we can grab in this soon-to-be the World’s largest Internet market?
China may soon to be the World’s largest Internet market anytime. However, most of the Internet users in China are young people with a low income (RMB500 - RMB1,000). So there will still be quite some time before China can catch up to the U.S. in terms of B2C (business to consumer) sales online.
As I can see, the main opportunity of China’s gigantic Internet market lies in the eyeballs that can be generated, which can then be converted to money. One good example is Baidu, which was touted as the Google of China, grabbed the No.1 market share in search engines in China. As a resut, it was listed in NASDAQ and worth billions of dollars overnight.
What can you also do to generate traffic from China’s Internet users, and monetize it?
