I just read from a a China financial website that Apple has announced on 31 January that they have recalled the iPhones from the manufacturers because the ”phone” functions were missing.

I did some searches in Google but couldn’t find related news on this announcement. So I am not sure if this is true or not.

Steve Jobs was said to explain the mistake was due their engineers so engrossed in designing features such as MP3, camera, antenna and other high-tech features that they forgot about the “phone” features.

The source for this (written in Chinese) is at http://big5.ce.cn/cysc/communications/csdt/200701/31/t20070131_10263685.shtml

Have you heard about this? Let’s check out whether this is true or not. It may probably be a joke :)

I believe the Chinese report is not accurate.

During the MacWorld show in San Francisco on 9th January 2007, when the iPhone was launched, several reports recorded that Steve Jobs actually made a call on the iPhone to the chief developer to congratulate him on a job well done.

Also, latest news from the States seem to indicate that Apple may be launching the iPhone before June 2007.

I agree as there has not been any news regarding this online or offline except there is some reference to this story in some humour websites

Apple is such a big company and if this report is real, it would not be announced to the public as it would affect the reputation of the company. If such a thing really happened, Apple would have kepr t a secret and not let the news leak out. As for the engineers, they would certainly need to check on the phone before sending it to mass production. And over at the factory, they will also have quality control checks to make sure the phones are well done. So, such a thing should not happen.

I think that this report is not real. Apple is such a renown company and would have check if their product is not up to the standard. Moreover,it their iphone really have problem, they will definitely check it and amend it before they sell to consumer.
