Fione Tan Helped Raised RM36,000 in MasteryAsia’s Charity Conference
Posted by Harrace
Owing to our busy schedule, Fione and I are back to work, right after our wedding. Our honeymoon needs to be postponed
Last Sunday, Fione spoke for the first time after the wedding, in a charity conference organised by MasteryAsia, in front of a crowd of more than 200 people, including graduates of Money Mastery. Fione and I are both graduates too, from MM799 - it’s July, 1999, when we first met
All proceeds of the conference would go to the Children’s Cancer Fund for the Malaysian Paediatric Association.

Fione’s was the second speaker to present, with the topic “From Executive to Internet Entrepreneur”. She shared passionately how and why she quit her first job as an Insurance executive to start her own Internet company.
Here is a video clip of her sharing.
She went on to talk about the Internet life-style, being able to wake up anytime you want, travel to any places on earth, while still making money.
She shared one of her secrets of success - goal setting. The first time she took this matter seriously was when she was being interviewed by the press when she first started 7 year ago and was asked when she would expect to make the first million Ringgit. She hadn’t thought about this at that time and just said conservatively RM One Million, in 5 years.
The journalist laughed at that time, not because Fione has made a big goal, but on the contrary, because the goal was too small. Back in those days, Internet companies could easily make millions of dollars in a short period of time.
Fione managed to hit this goal within 3 years, and now she has been exceeding this goal on an annual basis.
She shared one of the funny incidents she encountered a few year back, when she was invited to speak in Dubai for a technology conference. She was offered a return business class ticket (on top of speaker’s fee and accomodation) to fly from KL to Dubai.
When checking in at the Business class counter at the airport, a ground staff said to Fione, “This is business class.” Fione replied,” I know!”
Fione’s presentation was inspiring, humourous and met with great response. After the presentation, she was surrounded by participants with a lot of questions.

Not just offering her time, she also donated a cash cheque to the fund.

A smiling Fione presenting the cheque to smiling KC See, CEO, MasteryAsia, and mentor to both of us. (The cheque amount must be big :))
In addition, Fione offered 10 set of seminars tickets (for our popular “How to sell online seminar” and “How to make money with Blogs” seminar) bundled with e1Net headset microphone for sale, with all the proceeds going to the charity fund. All the tickets were grabbed by during the break by Fione’s fans!
She offered an extra 10 seminar packages, which were also over-sold. Before the end of the event, 23 sets of our seminar tickets were sold, raising an additional RM2,645 for the fund!
Making money is one thing. Not forgetting to contribute to charity is another. Since we first started, we have made it a point to do and participate in charity events. When we did not have the means in the beginning, we contributed our time and efforts. Now with some means, we can do both.
Other speakers who contributed both time, effort and money, which I would like to salute here, include:
- Dr. Ernest Wong, Master of NLP, Creator of Superteen
- Teoh Poh Yew, Founder of Creative Wizard, Author of “Teaching Children Maths - the fun & magical way!”
- Wan Mohd Nazmi, Executive Director, Sage Interactive
- Bob Proctor - the internationally renowned success guru, whose presentation was the highlight of the day! More on Bob Procter’s sharing his secrets of success will be shared in another post.
At the end of the event, RM36,000 was raised for the Fund! We took this opportunity to thank all those who participated in the event and have contributed their time and/or money. And of course, salute to KC See and his organisation for conducting such a well-planned charity event!

It really amazing to make money while you are still sleeping or traveling around the world. Think everyone can make it if they dare to take the risk and have the concept of internet marketing. Moreover, not to forget to donate and help the needy people whenever we can.
