Search Engine Optimization Hong Kong - SEO Tips
Posted by Harrace, Senior Internet marketing coach
If you are targetting the US or Europe market, you can just focus on getting top rankings in Google and Yahoo. If you get top rankings in Google, chances are that you can also achieve top rankings in Yahoo.
However, if you want to target the Chinese market, e.g. Hong Kong, you will need to do search engine optimization (SEO) to target the local search engines of Google (Google.com.hk) and Yahoo (Yahoo.com.hk)
What should you do before you submit your sites to HK Google and Yahoo? First of all, you should translate your site to Chinese (traditional), and then apply the SEO strategies in the similar way.
The first question is how to research for hot keywords for the Hong Kong market. You cannot rely on Overture.com, Wordtracker, or any other keyword research tools suggested by other non-Chinese speaking Internet marketers, as they don’t have any relevant stats for Hong Kong market.
To find out the hot keywords for Hong Kong market, you have to use the keyword research tools of Hong Kong search engines, the most popular one is Yahoo.com.hk. To use this tool or search engine, you will need to read Chinese, as everything is written in Chinese here.
Go to www.yahoo.com.hk, at the bottom of the home page, click at the link
Then click at the Keyword Suggestion Tool on the right hand column of the page.
Voila! A pop-up window like Overture will come up, and you can start doing your keyword research, for free here!
P.S. Search engine optimization is also spelt as search engine optimisation.

After the intensive weekend course in Singapore, I have been busy setting up my blog which now looks half decent. I am also trying out some of the SEO techniques for my blog and would welcome any advice and tips to make this more effective.
