Internet Business in Malaysia?
I’ve been running Internet Business from Malaysia since 2000, and even till today, there are people who cannot believe that they can make money online from Malaysia….
When you have an Internet Business, you are not merely selling to customers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Singapore or to Hong Kong, you are selling worldwide. However, during a discussion at my Malaysia Internet Marketing seminar, here are some questions raised by some participants:-
1. Malaysia Internet Business cannot work as very few Malaysians buy online. What do you think?
- Malaysia has over 16.9 million internet population (as of June 2009) and won’t you agree that they will buy online too, at least for some special priced air tickets or selected merchandise from overseas, that are not available in our shopping malls
- the internet population already represents 65.7% of our Malaysia population and is a big growth of the original 3.7 milllion Internet population in 2000
2. Why should an American customer buy from our website? Aren’t the products in USA better?
- to which i replied, where are most of the products now sold in American made in? Asia most likely, and highly possible being China made products
- so you can also sell Asian, or Malaysian made products to the customers worldwide and the important criteria is to have a USP for your product. If there is no uniqueness, they can just walk to a Walmart and buy it
Online shopping numbers are growing bigger and bigger each year, with 2010 Asia online spending numbers to be :-
China : US$1415.7 billion
Japan : US$185.3 billion
Korea : US$114.7 billion
Hong Kong ecommerce : US$10billion
Singapore ecommerce : US$6.6 billion
Therefore, if you are not looking forward to sell your products to America, Europe, why can’t you be targetting Asian online shoppers? The money looks pretty attractive, don’t you think so?

We have learned about internet marketing since 2000. Unfortunately, many of us did nothing but just waited for what’s happening. Only those who really got into the market can taste the success. Given the market is so huge, I think we still have a lot of opportunity and I think its not too late to start now.

I believe Internet Business is unlimited and worldwide. Online shopping is growing and growing which a really huge market. As Fione said “so you can also sell Asian, or Malaysian made products to the customers worldwide”. It is a good chance.

After seeing the figures, i too want to learn how to earn through the internet business. Your website offers other ways to earn beside the traditional way i.e. job.
