3 Online Sales in 1 Day!

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Downloading my emails this morning, i was surpised to see this message from my Internet Marketing Coaching student, Jack Lam from my July 2008 class.

Dear Fione, Harrace,

I am happy to tell you that my website has just made 3 sales yesterday!

It does surprise me a bit, as it is a very new site and I just don’t expect it to be so fast to make sales. The website is http://www.speedreaderxreview.com and it is mentioned in my assignment. I just climbed to the 10th position of Google yesterday

In these times, when many retailers and companies are looking at how to reduce costs and maintain sales, the Internet provides an additonal channel for sellers to promote and market their products and services. How did Jack obtain top 10 rankings in search engines for Free? Did he have this product ideas before starting an Internet Business?

Jack is hardworking and persistent. After attending the hands-on coaching at eOneNet.com to learn how to make money online, he put things into action! By following our weekly coaching tutorials, he can know what to do exactly week by week and used our suggestions to improve his ideas. If he had not attended our training or asked his internet marketing coaches for ideas, he would have missed this new opportunity right?

This is just the beginning to his new lifestyle of making money online and i look forward to helping Jack into an Internet Millionaire!

What is SEO – Search Engine Optimisation ?

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

Posted by Fione Tan, search engine optimization coach

One of the most common online marketing strategy is Search engine optimization (USA spelling) / Search engine optimisation (British spelling). SEO includes how to get free top rankings in search engines, especially the Top 10 positions in the popular search engines & directories like Google, Yahoo & MSN. This form of internet marketing is also called Search Engine Marketing.

In our upcoming posts, we will discuss the popular terms related to SEO and by going through these SEO glossary, you will have a better understanding when dicusssing with your web design team. Here are some glossary about SEO terms, starting for alphabet A, with just 4 simple SEO terms in each blog post.

1. Absolute Link

- this type of URL display lists out the specific file location as in which domain name is it at, which directory is it located in and the name of that file

- for example <a href=”http://www.eonenet.com/search_engine_promotion.htm” mce_href=”http://www.eonenet.com/search_engine_promotion.htm”> eOneNet search engine promotion marketing </a>

The other type of link is called the Relative link, where only the file name is shown, such as the sample <a href=”search_engine_promotion.htm” mce_href=”search_engine_promotion.htm”> eOneNet search engine promotion marketing </a>

In the relative link, the http and domain name is not shown

2. Accessibility

- the practise of making the website more easy to be used by disabled people, especially blind people. Note that in some sites which request you to type in the password or secret code as shown in the screen, now also has a function for the computer to read out the code to you?

Popular searches in Yahoo for 2007?

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

Posted by Fione, head internet marketing coach

Here’s a look at what was popularly searched in Yahoo! in 2007.

Top 10 Environment related searches

  1. Recycling
  2. Global Warming
  3. Freecycle
  4. Earth
  5. Pollution
  6. Al Gore
  7. Environmental Protection Agency
  8. Live Earth
  9. Hybrid Cars
  10. Solar Energy

Looking at the list above, you can see that people are becoming more concerned about their environment, but are we doing enough? Among the ways that i’ve tried including reducing the use of plastic bags by carrying a shopping bag, plus separating my garbage into recycling bins (this is pretty hard to do if there is no such garbage disposal system in your apartment / location. Luckily my apartment in Hong Kong has allocated recycling bins for the garbage disposal)

Then we look at one of the biggest problem in 2007, which was product recall.

The Top 10 Product Recall related search terms in Yahoo are:-

  1. Pet Food Recall
  2. Fisher Price
  3. Thomas the Tank Engine
  4. Dog Food Recall
  5. Menu Foods
  6. E. coli
  7. Food Poisoning
  8. Toy Recall
  9. Peanut Butter Recall
  10. Topps

How can you make use of the info above? Well, start a blog and discuss the issues. Get affected consumers on your side and share tips or info on what is going on. When pet products were recalled in the USA, many pet owners went online to check on the status of different pet food brands as there’s nothing worse that feeding your dog or cat with contaminated food right?

So, have you started your blog?

Search Engine Optimization Hong Kong – SEO Tips

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Posted by Harrace, Senior Internet marketing coach

If you are targetting the US or Europe market, you can just focus on getting top rankings in Google and Yahoo. If you get top rankings in Google, chances are that you can also achieve top rankings in Yahoo.

However, if you want to target the Chinese market, e.g. Hong Kong, you will need to do search engine optimization (SEO) to target the local search engines of Google (Google.com.hk) and Yahoo (Yahoo.com.hk)

What should you do before you submit your sites to HK Google and Yahoo? First of all, you should translate your site to Chinese (traditional), and then apply the SEO strategies in the similar way.

The first question is how to research for hot keywords for the Hong Kong market. You cannot rely on Overture.com, Wordtracker, or any other keyword research tools suggested by other non-Chinese speaking Internet marketers, as they don’t have any relevant stats for Hong Kong market. (more…)

When should you submit to the search engines ?

Monday, June 11th, 2007

One of my internet marketing coaching participant asked when should the website be submitted to search engines. Here are some pointers that you should consider before you submit to top search engines like Google, Yahoo or MSN.

Search engine marketing is not about 1 or 2 points only. First, check whether your web designer or web programmer has done any search engine optimization for your website or have search engine marketing experience. It’s best if they can show you real case studies of their own websites or what they have done for their website (which in this case, you should counter check whether this is really their own portfolio).

Here are 4 simple items that you can do immediately before your submit to the search engines & online directories.

1. Hyperlink the home page to the internal pages and vice versa

- your Site Map should have clear details of what pages falling under which section & categories. How and where will you insert / categorize new webpages ?

- your most important Sales / Products / Promotions page must be easily accessed from the Home Page of your website

Hong Kong Lawyer Embarks on Internet Marketing

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Posted by Harrace

I was back to Hong Kong after one week stay in Malaysia, to prepare for tomorrow’s Internet marketing seminar, which is already full house!

This afternoon, I had a meeting with my secondary school classmate, a Hong Kong solicitor (i.e. a Hong Kong lawyer whose core business is in advising clients of legal matters, including doing conveyancing, contract, patents, litigation, personal injuries etc). He is interested to see how internet marketing can help his practice expand business and get more clients.

Similar to UK lawyers, Hong Kong lawyers are now allowed to advertise in various media, including newspapers, buses, TV, and even the Internet. I’ve seen ads for some lawyers appearing in all these media regularly, which would have cost an advertising budget of HK$50,000 to HK$100,000 (or more) per month.

However, there are only a couple of Hong Kong Solicitors’ firms who are placing ads on the Internet. My friend’s firm is one of the handful ones doing this via buying Google AdWords.

He consulted me on how his firm can tap on Internet marketing to improve his bottom line.

The core business of a lawyer is to sell service. So the issue is how to sell services online using Internet marketing. Here is a snapshot of my advice. (more…)

Google freeing up email account restrictions

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

Google is in the process of freeing up their email restrictions to accept all comers, nearly 3 years after they shook up the internet world by offering users an unprecedented amount of free storage and displaying ads based on contents of the correspondences.

As of last week, Google removed the invitation-only restrictions on its Gmail service in (more…)

Onsite Search Engine Optimization: How To Get Top Rankings in Search Engines – Part 2

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Posted by Harrace (Hong Kong)

I am at the Hong Kong airport, waiting to board a flight to Kuala Lumpur and will be heading to Singapore to attend eOneNet’s blog seminar tomorrow evening.

I note there is a notice by PCCW, the telecommunication and Internet services company “owned” by Richard Lee, that there is free internet access in the whole airport. So I went in to a restaurant, opened my laptop, and tried to go online. To my dismay, though it’s connected to the wireless network successfully, there is no Internet access.

So I am writing this posting in word document, and will upload it to our blog when I have the opportunity. The most frequently asked question in our seminars is how do we get top rankings in search engines. I have shared in my blog posting What is SEO and how to get top rankings in search engines? Part 1 the basics that we need to do. In this Part 2, I will focus on onsite SEO (search engine optimization) (more…)
