Selling business to business (B2B)
In the traditional B2B trading, buyers visit popular business exhibitions to review the latest products and then order their purchases directly from the manufacturers at the booths.
With the Internet, buyers can view many virtual exhibition shows or buy from sites or source from popular B2B trading portals.
"I remember how exciting it was to be making over 100% in profit margin when we sold hundreds of boxes of masks to one corporate customer in the US through the Internet," says president and CEO of eOneNet.com, Fione Tan.
Selling business to customer (B2C)
In order to find a unique selling point, ask yourself:"Why would a customer buy from a wevsite instead of one of my competitors?"
Find a product that i s a growing trend. Then in the website, come up with a full description of the product plus a "Buy Now" buttom and online payment system via credit card.
They price you sell online should be competitive and priced in US dollars.
It's an effective way to act as a retailer on the Internet without having a shop. Some of my students have used this method and are doing reasonably well e.g www.IDogShop.com (that sells pet accessories) and www.8GiftsIdeas.com (sell personalised gifts)," adds Fione.
Selling digital info / software
This is also a popular type of product to sell online as there are no delivery fees and customers can download instantly. Thinking of the benefits your software or digital books can have.
For the software, the benefits include customers being able to record audio message and then uploading these message into the Internet.
Each time the customer purchases the product, the system will auto-process the credit card and upon successful payment, another e-mail will be sent to the customer with the information on where and how to download the software file.
