Top corporate women to speak at summit

PETALING JAYA: Women can have the best of both worlds – a successful career and happy family.

Eleven outstanding Asian women will share their secrets to maintaining this balance in a two-day summit in Petaling Jaya beginning March 5.

“The path to success has never been easy for women in particular, but many can reach their goal if they have a global vision and managerial abilities,” said organising chairman Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun of the Malaysia-China-Asia Pacific Women’s Economic Summit.

The event is jointly organised by the Malaysia-China Friendship Association and the Malaysia-China Cultural and Arts Association.

The summit, themed One Hundred Years in Retrospect: Women Continue to Drive Progress, is being held in conjunction with the 100th International Women’s Day.

The summit would be held in Chinese and English.

The 11 women speakers are Cisco Systems Malaysia managing director Anne Abraham; Banyan Tree Gallery (Singapore) Pte Ltd managing director Claire Chiang; Malaysia’s eOneNet.com CEO Fione Tan; Hong Leong Investment Bank Bhd managing director and CEO Lee Jim Leng; China’s Redhero Garment and Accessories Co Ltd founder Liu Hong Ying; Hong Leong Assurance group managing director and CEO Loh Guat Lan; Securiforce Group Malaysia founder and executive chairman Datuk Dr Maznah Hamid; Sin Chew Daily group editor-in-chief Siew Nyoke Chow; Smart Reader Worldwide Sdn Bhd group executive director Dr Wang Kim Ha; China’s Nalco Company vice-chairman Ying Yeh; and Singapore Treasureway Group founder and chairman Zhang Lu.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Idris Jala will be the keynote speaker.
