Bridal Shops @ Kimberly Road, Hong Kong
I decided to visit Kimberly Street at Tsim Sha Tsui, an area filled with many bridal shops such as Mona Lisa, Xin Tian Di and Marry Claire from Taiwan.

Most of the bridal shops will allow you to try on wedding dress. The first bridal store i checked out was located just next to the Kimberly Hotel as i was attracted to a pink & white wedding dress being displayed on the store mannequin. The sales lady informed me that this piece has only arrived 1 hour ago and i was the first one to try it out.
They were having a special rental package of about 1 wedding dress and 1 evening gown at about HK$2,800 for a 3 days / 2 nights package. If it was for the rental of only 1 wedding dress, i would be paying HK$1,800. I found this dress rather interesting and even checked out the price to just purchase the dress off the rack and they gave me a good bargain price of just HK$6,800, since it was more like an evening gown.
Their guarantee is that you would never get another similar piece of any of their gowns anywhere else, as they have their inhouse designers to produce each of their gown.
The minute i returned this pink gown, the next bride who was eyeing the same piece, asked to try this on. Yes, looks like this gown design will be among the customer’s favourite.
I then headed to Xin Tian Di bridal gown (if pronounced in chinese), which was called Wonderful Arts Wedding Services in English. Harrace has seen their display of exquisite wedding gowns during a Bridal Fashion Expo in early February 2007 at the Hong Kong Convention Centre.
I think my Hong Kong room mate, Christine, had her wedding photos taken here too about 3 years ago. This wedding company normally has Top Models in all their advertisements and fashion shows, including popular models like Rosemary, and even TV celebrities like Mr. Hong Kong.
However, upon arrival at their store at Kimberly road, both of us were disappointed. Rather than friendly smiling sales assistants, they passed us 7 books of fashion shows photos and asked us to look through these items, while they were busy chatting with each other.
Their price was however, rather low compared to the 1st bridal shop i entered. It was only HK$1,800 for 1 wedding gown and 1 men’s suit. Anyway, i asked for 2 styles of wedding dress that i’ve seen from their stack of photo album but when the gowns were later shown to me, it was also below expectations.
Harrace asked whether those wedding dresses displayed at the bridal fashion show last week were available in the store, but the assistants mentioned those will only be available after 2 weeks. Spending less than 15 minutes in this bridal store, we decided to leave and then headed to the Marry Claire.
Harrace was commenting how similar it was to the magazine Marie Claire. Apparently this was a Taiwan bridal company, and their prices are high compared to the other bridal shops in that area. Price for a wedding gown rental starts from HK$3,800 and their packages for gown rentals starts from HK$5,800 (for 1 wedding gown and 1 evening dress). This store however, had many smiling sales assistants but as we were the only customers in their shop, we felt uneasy as all 5 people were just standing there standing and smiling at us.
After visiting just 3 bridal shops, now we are contemplating again to get my wedding gown custom designed back in Malaysia.
