Making Money Online
The Star , 11 August 2009
There are various ways to make money online, according to Fione Tan (pic), president of eOneNet.com, one of the leading internet marketing companies in Malaysia, with offices in Hong Kong, and Singapore. Making money online includes earning a commision by referring business to the suppliers’ websites, or making money with blogs from online advertisements, selling products, services, or online information.
Tan: The key to making money online is how to find customers, or how to let customers find your website.
1. Selling physical products
Selling products online is becoming a popular business today. Example of products that eOneNet.com is selling are N95 masks to wear as precautionary measure against the spread of H1N1 virus, headset microphones and more.
2. Selling services
You can also use the Internet to sell services like eOneNet.com students Michael Ting, who sells consultancy services on his wevsite corporateturnaround.com.
3. Selling software
The first item eOneNet.com was selling since its establishment in 2000 was a DIY website builder software, a non-technical template-based tool to enable non-techinacal people to build websites.
Christopher Tam, also an eOneNet student, sells Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software at KlantCRM.com.
Within six months of the launch of his website, Tam had gained customers from China, Hong Kong, Singapore and other countries.
4. Selling without own products
What about those who do not have any products to sell?
According to Tan, many of her students are making money online by just creating websites or blogs on specific topics and then make money via different ways, such as income from online ads.
Once you have decided on what to sell or if you have completed a website, the next challenge is to learn how to draw targeted traffic to your site.
One of the most effective ways is to get top rankings in search engines.
Tan says that the success of her students’ websites is attributed to getting top rankings for keywords relating to what they are seeling.
